Born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, Camille Mariet draws upon an upbringing colored by lowriders, retired Old Hollywood starlets, Mormon missionaries, and aloof cowboys in an effort to reconcile questions of identity, power, vulnerability, and performance.
Mariet meticulously crafts film-like tableaus and manipulates her subjects' physicality to create a body of work that is at once sinister, surreal, and deeply vulnerable.
